Aims and Scope

SOLUCA: Social Sciences Journal of Culture and Local Wisdom is a peer-reviewed academic journal that promotes critical, locally-rooted social science perspectives. The journal is dedicated to exploring social and cultural practices, community-based knowledge, and indigenous wisdom that shape everyday life in diverse societies, particularly in the Global South.

SOLUCA serves as a space for rethinking the dominance of Western epistemologies by foregrounding local knowledge as a valid source of theory, method, and analysis. We believe that social science must reflect the lived realities, historical experiences, and cultural richness of various communities, not just reproduce universal models detached from context.

We invite contributions that engage with (but are not limited to):

• Local wisdom, indigenous traditions, and cultural identities;

• Social transformation and resilience in local communities;

• Community knowledge in the fields of education, development, technology, economy, health, and governance;

• Ethnographic studies, oral histories, and narrative-based research;

• Theoretical reflections grounded in non-Western or vernacular worldviews;

• Interdisciplinary dialogues that bridge the local and the global.

By highlighting knowledge from the local perspectives, SOLUCA aims to contribute to the global effort of decolonizing the social sciences and fostering epistemic justice.
